Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My child needs speech. What’s next?

A: Follow these steps to get your child started with speech therapy:

  1. Contact us through the website to set up a free phone consultation. This will be a 20-30-minute phone conversation, where we ask about your child’s strengths and weaknesses. If appropriate, we will discuss scheduling and set up an initial evaluation.
  2. Fill out the forms and parent questionnaire provided to you following the phone consultation. It is important to have these forms completed at the time of the initial evaluation.
  3. During the initial evaluation, the clinician will spend approximately 40 minutes with your child and check several age-appropriate speech and language skills. Following the evaluation, the clinician will discuss the findings with you and determine what frequency of speech (1-3 days/week) is recommended for your child.
  4. Regular therapy sessions will generally start the week following your initial evaluation on the days and times previously discussed.

Q: Are you contracted through Regional Center?

A: Yes! we are currently completing the vendorization process and expect to start taking Regional Center clients in 2023.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: Roots Speech does not currently accept insurance. We accept private pay in the form of all major credit cards set up through our client portal. We provide families with superbills, which are invoices that include proof of payment for services provided, diagnosis and treatment codes. These superbills can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
